Logan Hicks x K-Swiss x EM

Here are the mockups of my upcoming shoe release from K-Swiss. The release will be mid year if all goes well, and the samples come through quickly enough.

Last year i did the K-Spray tour (http://www.K-Spray.com) throughout Asia (Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan) and presented stencilng to an entirely new audience. K-Swiss was happy with the tour, and with the work that i did, and asked me if i was interested in doing a shoe with them.

Below are the results. These are just the computer comps, but I assure you that the shoe is going to be dope.

I was helped with by my man Rickey Kim of Evil Monito fame with the materials and decided to go with a white patent crocodile leather on top of white premium leather. The footbed of the shoe will have my signature red on red pattern with logo imprints on top. The sole of the shoe will be a see-through clear rubber so you can view the red on red pattern through the bottom as well as on the footbed. Then, the side panel of the shoe will be embossed with the 'Logan" logo

The box and packaging is equally interesting. a die cut box with a red on red monochromatic printing adorns the box. Inside is a red on red print again, with a red cloth shoe bag. All in all, it is a clean, streamlined product that should go pretty quick.

Not sure of the exact numbers in the release, but it should be around 500 pair for retail. I believe that release will only be in Asia. The details may change a little between now and the release, but that is the bulk of the detail.

A big thank you goes out to Rickey Kim and Jimmy Au for the support and advice on this.
Logan Hicks Signature Fabric Line

Here are some samples from a line of fabrics that I have been working on. They are still a good six months away before proper samples are in hand, but this gives you a pretty good idea of where the line is going.

Once completed I will be licensing the fabric designs to select companies for limited edition textile product runs.

The inspiration for the line comes from my own artwork, which often includes the urban landscape. The idea for doing fabrics came from my old hometown of Baltimore Maryland. Although I haven't lived in Baltimore for nearly 7 years, I still identify myself as a Baltimore person more than a Los Angeles citizen. In Baltimore there is a place that has the longest continuous row of home in the United States. It is nearly a quarter of a mile long, and has 52 homes, next to each other, with no alley, no road, and no space between the homes. It's crazy to check out. I remember passing by that place, and taking note of how it flowed, how it seemed to drape the landscape with the marble steps and windows stretching on for what seemed like an eternity. It was from passing by that row of homes, that the fabric line was born.

The buildings that I use in the fabrics are from all around the world - Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, New York, Los Angeles, and of course, Baltimore.

If you are reading this, and you have an interest in licensing the fabrics for production runs, hit me up - Logan@WorkhorseVisuals.com. I don't expect these limited fabrics to last forever. Word!

Livin La Vida Logan

Last year i did a 5 city tour throughout asia for K-Swiss (which is how the shoe i mention below came about). Anyway, one of the things that we did during that tour was film a 60 second spot for MTV Asia. I decided to link to the final result. it is a little cornball, but i can live with it. I had sent out a little travelogue when i got back from the trip, and i have posted the background on the info below:

If the video isnt loading in on your server, you can check it here:

"Had to get up at 4:30 in fucking morning! Ugh! On this day, we were doing an MTV shoot and they needed us there early. Asian MTV is a bit different from the American one. It isn't as diluted with crap or at least it seems like it has a bit more respect over there. They were doing these 60 second spots on each of the artists on the KSpray tour. I will be big in Asia! whoo hoo. I had the dubious distinction of being the first one up. Lucky me. After dragging myself out of bed and half restful sleep, I made my way to the shoot, via the hotel shuttle. Got to the shoot and sat there for another hour while they set up. Had some 'coffee' and 'orange juice', but in Thailand everything is either full of sugar, deep fried, or chock full of shrimp. This is not always a bad thing, but on this particular day, I wanted some very strong, very black coffee. What I got was the equivalent of caffinated pancake syrup. The coffee was black, but had enough sugar to suck the teeth out of your head and rot them in your mouth. Nevertheless, it worked, because my eyes were forced open. After running though a crap load of scripted moves, like me walking through this abandoned building, we were on to the 'lines'. This was the funny part. Back in Taipei, I had to fill out a questionnaire that MTV sent over to get an idea of where our heads were at. I was tired when I filled it out and didn't take the questinaire as serious as I wished I had. When asked "what motto or quote do you live your life by?", I responded "I am lawless. No motto. No quote. I am just livin 'la vida Logan'". I guess they thought it would be funny to use that, so there I was in the middle of Bangkok repeating the most ridiculous line I could have ever thought up. My delivery was deadpan throughout the shoot except this line when I cracked up laughing at my own stupidity. I look like a serial killer up until this point, with my deadpan delivery, scowling eyes, and my aggressive stance, then the stupid "la Vida" line. Finally, I did my stencil and they filmed the hell out of it, then I headed home to catch up on some sleep. Got up, ordered room service, and ate the Thailand version of Fried Mozzarella...wasn't bad, but Americans seem to have the most efficient way of delivering fatty delights into each gram of food."
Dithers 2 Coming Soon!

I can remember watching the first dithers DVD in awe. There is always something about hearing an artist talk about their own work. Sometime it is great, sometime it is like a train wreck. Regardless it is interesting. That is why i was thrilled to hear that the good folks at Upper Playground wanted me to be on the second Dithers installment.

Although i have not heard who the complete roster is on the second Dithers, I do know that Mr. Cartoon, Estevan Oriol, Tribe, and Myself will be on it. I am certain that it will be a solid documentary.

Stay tuned to the UpperPlayground.com website for updates. Last time i was up in San Francisco, they said that they were looking at a mid-year release.

Artists featured on first Dithers include: Bigfoot, Sam Flores, Kevin Lyons, Bryan Flynn, Jeremy Fish, Stash, Giant, David Choe, Albert Reyes, Tiffany Bozic, Rich Jacobs, Ricky Powell, Joe Jackson, Andy Jenkins, Andy Mueller, Andy Howell, Shepard Fairey, David Kinsey, Gray, Dug One and Zephyr.

Snowboard Finals

Here is the completed snowboard design, and a close up of the design. I am not sure of the printing method, but I believe that it will be printed through sublimation so it holds all the detail and gradients. Should be pretty dope

MEDICOM X LOGAN HICKS X EM fabric

One thing that I am excited about this year is the release of my Medicom Fabrick.

MLE (medicom lifestyle entertainment) is a division of Medicom that commissions artists to produce a design that is then printed onto various fabrics. Those fabrics are then used to produce a variety of products such as bags, wallets, backpacks, furniture, beanbags, mousepads, and so on.

Here are a few product shots that use my fabric

For my fabric I did a 'wave cammo'. The piece originally started out as a large stencil piece that I did of the water near my mothers house on the Chesapeake bay . The original piece stood at about 9 ft by 12 ft. I photographed the stencils and layered them in illustrator, and tweaked them until I was happy with the result.

I am unsure of where exactly the products will be carried in the United States, but I believe that the EvilMonito.com website will be carrying some in their online store. If you cant live without a 'Logan Hicks wave cammo product', hit me up and I will see if i can find a place that carries them for you.

FYI, Evil Monito is on fire lately. The whole reason this Wave Cammo even got off the ground was because of Evil Monito - recognize!

New Website Coming soon!

Its almost here. and i couldnt be happier. For close to a year i have not had a website for people to check out. Well, the end is almost near. My man Jamie Kashetta is wrapping up things as we speak. I finally wised-up and realized that i cant do everything in this word, so i turned to Jamie to knock out a proper site. It is an easy loading flash site that really represents the style of my work.

In the meantime, you should motor on over to Jamie's site, Xeroproject.com to check out what he does. He also has the site http://digitalsimian.com, which I love- 'Fuck you, Pay me'.
Snowboard Design

I have a snowboard design coming out with a new company called Iyami Snowboards. The board will be limited to 100 Boards total, and should be dropping later this season. No word yet on what the retail price will be

Based out of Detroit, they company has boards that are based on urban themes and landscapes. Here is the computer comp of the piece I am doing. I will have a final photo posted on here in a few days too.

Hit them up and place an advanced order before the boards sell out:

The Madness Begins

2006 is going to be crazy. It has been almost a year or more since i had a website that people could check out, so i figure it high time that i get my ass in gear and make it happen. So here it goes
