Logan Hicks Signature Fabric Line

Here are some samples from a line of fabrics that I have been working on. They are still a good six months away before proper samples are in hand, but this gives you a pretty good idea of where the line is going.

Once completed I will be licensing the fabric designs to select companies for limited edition textile product runs.

The inspiration for the line comes from my own artwork, which often includes the urban landscape. The idea for doing fabrics came from my old hometown of Baltimore Maryland. Although I haven't lived in Baltimore for nearly 7 years, I still identify myself as a Baltimore person more than a Los Angeles citizen. In Baltimore there is a place that has the longest continuous row of home in the United States. It is nearly a quarter of a mile long, and has 52 homes, next to each other, with no alley, no road, and no space between the homes. It's crazy to check out. I remember passing by that place, and taking note of how it flowed, how it seemed to drape the landscape with the marble steps and windows stretching on for what seemed like an eternity. It was from passing by that row of homes, that the fabric line was born.

The buildings that I use in the fabrics are from all around the world - Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, New York, Los Angeles, and of course, Baltimore.

If you are reading this, and you have an interest in licensing the fabrics for production runs, hit me up - Logan@WorkhorseVisuals.com. I don't expect these limited fabrics to last forever. Word!

I am new into stencil art and I really like your stuff.

how (with what) do you cut your fabric stencils, Are you using paper?

I tried spray painting a stencil on bed sheet cloth and the paint would run, any advice?

Thanks,

Hey Baltimore person! for the fabrics, they will be cut from paper, sprayed out on wood, then i will work from photos to translate to fabric. The fabrics will not be hand stenciled. they will start out as stencils, but will be printed commercially so that they are usable in a number of industries, instead of being 'art' fabric.

When you do your very large pieces, how do you transfer them onto all the different pieces of paper? Its really difficult getting them in the right proportions!
BTW your work is fantastic!!!

Cheers ali
